MEMBERS of TeesdaleArtNet (TAN) are celebrating after a funding boost.

The group, which is aiming to make art accessible to all in the Dale, has been awarded grants to stage a full programme of events this autumn and exhibitions and open studios in 2019.

The grants of £4,170 from Northern Heartlands Community Initiative Fund and an award of around £12,000 from Arts Council England National Lottery fund for development of the network, will enable the group to appoint a practising artist as co-ordinator for their events over the next eighteen months.

The artists’ network now has 33 members living or working in Teesdale and is growing all the time.

It is an organisation run by artists for artists, connecting and supporting practitioners who often work in isolation in remote places.

Network secretary, Judy Caplin, said: “These grants will make a real difference to TAN’s ability to stage a full and exciting programme of events over the next year”
