A CLASSIC black comedy will be brought to life in Gainford this month.
Gainford Drama Club’s production of The Ladykillers by Graham Linehan will be staged at the Academy Theatre from April 11 to 21.
The play sees a "sweet old lady" pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who pose as amateur musicians to cover their evil intent.
Their plotting – and playing – is frequently interrupted by WPC MacDonald, General Gordon the parrot and Mrs Wilberforce’s guests until the five desperadoes are finally forced to face the music.
The play is directed by Maria Lowcock assisted by Michelle Hope, and is presented in partnership with Samuel French Ltd. Evening performances start at 7.30pm, and there is a 2pm matinee on Saturday, April 14. For tickets, £8, visit gainforddramaclub.co.uk to download a request form or call 01325 730485. Lines are open Monday to Friday from 6.30-8pm.
