SOUL singer Ruby Turner has been booked to perform at Yarm’s Princess Alexandra Auditorium.
The Jamaican born songstress joins an impressive range of names who have recently announced shows at the 750-seat theatre. Her show will take place on September 22.
A regular in Jools Holland’s R&B Orchestra, Turner's annual appearances on his Hootenanny shows are one of the highlights. She has sung with everyone from UB40 to The Temptations and Brian Ferry to Mick Jagger – and appeared in front of the Queen for her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
She has produced 17 albums. Hits include I’d Rather Go Blind to the American R&B chart topper It’s Gonna Be Alright.
Graham Ramsay, of promoters Ten Feet Tall, said: “We’re so pleased to be welcoming Ruby Turner to Yarm. She has one of the most amazing soul voices of her generation and her voice just seems to get better every year."
The show starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £22 from thepaaonline.org, box office on 01642 792587 or arconline.co.uk.
