BRIDGING the Gap, formed by Stockton Arc to support emerging professional theatre makers, has expanded to welcome applications from artists and companies in Yorkshire.

York Theatre Royal recently joined the list of North-East participating venues which, since 2010, have helped emerging theatre makers to develop and showcase new work.

The project offers a two-year package to two selected companies which work with the venues to develop productions. It includes rehearsal space, a total of ten performances for each production, meetings with venues, marketing support and more, giving companies or artists a platform to showcase their work fully in autumn 2018.

Annabel Turpin, chief executive at Arc, said: “The addition of York Theatre Royal is very exciting and shows how much it has moved forward since its conception.”

Applicants must be committed to making contemporary theatre, live and work in the North-East or Yorkshire regions, have produced at least one show professionally and be able financially to self-support their production.
