CLASSICAL Cleveland relaunches monthly lunchtime recitals at Stokesley next month.

Usually held on the first Thursday of the month in Stokesley Methodist Church, the first concerts take place at 1.30pm on February 4 and March 3. After an Easter break in April, the season continues with two more concerts in May and June.

The February concert features Spanish cellist Angela Zamorano Tardon and Malaysian pianist Lee Jae Phang playing sonatas by Chopin and Debussy and work by Beethoven.

In March, award-winning pianist Sid Ramchander plays works by Brahms, Debussy, Scriabin and Chopin. All three are rising stars of the new generation of classical musicians.

Tickets cost £7 from Brown's Newsagents or pay at the door. Volunteers at the church serve light lunches prior to the concert from mid-day, making the concerts very sociable occasions.

In parallel with the Stokesley concerts, Classical Cleveland continues to present lunchtime recitals in collaboration with Redcar and Cleveland Council at Redcar's Tuned In Centre.

This season resumes on February 10 with Chinese pianist Fan Liu playing works by Bach, Debussy, Liszt and Mozart.

The Nexus Guitar Duo of Bradley Johnson and James Girling returns by popular demand on March 9 with a programme of music by Pierre-Petit, Granados and Ryan. Concerts are held on the second Wednesday of the month, at 1.30pm; tickets £6 at the door.

Illustrated leaflets with the full programme are available at the concert venues and libraries throughout East Cleveland. Details are also available online, search for classical-cleveland uk.
