THE Castle Players, one of the region’s leading amateur theatre companies, needs someone to help with technical aspects of staging Shakespeare's Henry V in the grounds of the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle this summer.

The group has presented open air Shakespeare at the museum for 26 years with audiences numbering more than 500 a night for a week in July.

Productions have a fully designed set, extensive lighting and sound equipment and a purpose-built rig. The company prides itself on its professional standards and has been widely acclaimed.

Technical rigging activity will be continuous this year from June 28 for Henry V, which runs from July 5-9. De-rig takes place on Sunday, July 10.

The Players need help with get-in, production and get-out activities from someone with expertise, experience and knowledge of theatre lighting and sound equipment and, ideally, a qualified electrician to assist at specific times.

Anyone interested in helping on the technical side is asked to email info@castleplayers.co.uk or contact the secretary, Chris Best, on 01833 650827 or 07786 926453. Others who would like to take part in Henry V, either performing or backstage, will be welcome at an open meeting on Monday, February 1, at St Mary’s Parish Hall in Barnard Castle at 7.30pm.
