A CONCERT celebrating 40 years of Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra takes place at Stockton Parish Church tomorrow night.

Ian Denley makes a return visit to conduct Faure's Pavane, Op 50 for chorus and orchestra accompanied by the VOX choir; Gounod;s Faust Ballet Music and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10.

The philharmonic is a full-size symphony orchestra with about 80 members, including many music teachers from the area.

It give two challenging concerts each year, generally in October and March. Each concert is preceded by two Sundays of intensive rehearsal.

The orchestra was founded in 1975 by the late Edwin Raymond and continues to support his main aim of providing advanced players in the Teesside area with the opportunity to perform some of the more challenging works in the orchestral repertoire.
