GUISBOROUGH Forest and Walkway is to play host to a summer of live performances promising fun for all ages.

Starting with The Jungle Book on Saturday, June 27, shows also include The Sorcerer's Apprentice, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Treasure Island and an adaptation of David Walliams' acclaimed book Mr Stink.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice is performed on July 18, with illusions created by magician Paul Daniels, and the final three shows form an August triple-header of entertainment. Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream is brought to life on August 5, Treasure Island on August 11 and Mr Stink rounding off theatrical delights on August 26.

All the shows are hosted in the newly opened outdoor amphitheatre built by staff and apprentices at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council with support from volunteers. The space provides an atmospheric venue for outdoor performances with seating for 80-100 theatregoers.

Cllr Carl Quartermain, cabinet member for jobs, skills and leisure, said: "This quartet of productions will provide fun for all the family with something to enjoy for visitors young and old.

"The council is very pleased that well-known companies like The Handlebards and The Pantaloons want to bring their own unique twist on iconic plays to our borough. We hope as many people as possible can come down and enjoy all the events."
