MORE acts have been named for the inaugural Barnard Castle Comedy Festival in July.
The Gunge Show will feature five North-East stand-up comedians, Lee Kyle, Si Buglass, Nicola Mantalios-Lovett, Sammy Dobson and Matt Reed kick-starting the event at noon on July 18 at The Witham.
Two teams of comics will compete in games to save their team captain from a gunging in a show that has proved as popular with adults as with children.
Lost Voice Guy (Lee Ridley) stages his new show, Disability for Dunces, at 1.30pm, ahead of a month-long run at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child, the award-winning comedian performs stand-up using an iPad and is the first to employ a communication aid on stage. It will be his first appearance in Barnard Castle.
He said: "My show is about all the stupid questions I get asked by the public on an all too regular basis. I’ve decided to answer them all once and for all. Think of it as being like a disabled FAQ for dummies, or dunces."
Ridley is followed by Tony Law (3pm), Jo Caulfied (4.30pm) and Alex Horne (8.30pm). The 6pm show has yet to be named.
Live acts will run throughout the day. The festival is organised by Live Funny Way To Be Comedy at The Witham. Earlybird day tickets cost £45. For details, visit barnardcastlecomedy.com.
