AFTER November's dramatic and successful concert at Sage, Gateshead, followed by a Christmas concert in Middlesbrough Town Hall, Cleveland Philharmonic Choir returns to Stockton Parish Church on Saturday, March 28, at 7.30pm.

The spring concert begins with a work by Howard Goodall, composer of TV theme tunes such as Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley and Composer of the Year at the Classical Brit awards in 2009.

The piece, Eternal Light – a Requiem, uses sacred and secular texts set to hauntingly lovely tunes interspersed with movements taken at breakneck speed. The s memorable piece is a great addition to the choral repertoire.

Soprano, tenor and baritone soloists are Hazel McBain, James Slimings and Andrew McTaggart, all graduates from the Royal Scottish Conservatoire, and the piece is accompanied by a small group of the Mowbray Orchestra strings plus keyboard and piano.

After the interval, when refreshments will be served, the choir will present the best loved of all choral works, Mozart's Requiem, with Charlotte Heslop (mezzo-soprano) completing the quartet of soloists in this work. John Forsyth conducts.

Tickets are £14, £12 for concessions and £2 for children and students, obtainable from Denis Rigg on 01642 782009, choir members, at the door or via clevelandphilharmonicchoir.com (no booking fee).
