A LAST minute change sees violinist Alexandra Lomieko performing for Darlington Music Society tomorrow (Sat March 14) accompanied by Russian pianist Olga Sitkovsky.

Lomieko stepped in at short notice to replace Adelia Myslov who is indisposed.

The programme at Central Hall, Darlington, includes violin sonatas by Beethoven (no 3) and Brahms (no 2), Elgar's Sonata for Violin and Piano in E minor and Carmen Fantasy by Franz Waxman.

Lomieko was born in 1991 in New Zealand and began violin lessons in 1996 with Natalia Lomeiko (Snr). In 2006, she moved to London where she is active as a soloist and chamber musician, performing in leading venues and being broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Sitkovetsky has won many prizes and awards for best accompaniment at international competitions. in 1991, she moved to England at the invitation of Lord Menuhin.
