THE return of the internationally renowned pianist Angela Hewitt to Darlington after an absence of 12 years is proving extremely popular.
Only a few tickets remain for what promises to be the classical music highlight of the year in the town.
The concert has been organised by Darlington Piano Society and Darlington Music Society in memory of David Robson, who was a D&S Times concert reviewer and long-time committee member of both societies as well as acting as music advisor to regional and national bodies.
He brought Ms Hewitt to a regional and national audience when she first arrived in the UK from her native Canada in 1985. She is now regarded as one of J S Bach’s foremost interpreters of our time and plays in all the major concert venues in the world as well as hosting her own music festival in Tuscany each year.
The recital is a tribute from her for the initial support she received. She will play two sonatas by Beethoven alongside works by J S Bach.
The concert takes place at 3pm on Sunday, March 15, in Central Hall at the Dolphin Centre. For ticket availability, contact dpiano.co.uk or follow the Angela Hewitt ticket sales link. The price is £15, under-21s £7.50.
