Northern Voices, United Reformed Church, Darlington

THOSE seeking some warmth on a cold winter day certainly found it when Northern Voices presented the "most wonderful spine tingling singing".

Comments from audience members ranged from the above to "It was just magic, like being in a dream!" plus "fabulous singing", "wonderful programme" and "gorgeous voices".

The choir performed for Darlington Soroptimists to a full church and raised £1,150 for the charity Toilet Twinning.

The varied programme, which ranged from Faure’s Agnus Dei and Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus – which several in the audience said were wonderfully well sung – to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, the theme from New York, New York and the most beautiful West Side Story selection.

This choir just goes from strength to strength. Congratulations to all the choir members and their musical director, Gillian Sild, and accompanist Stephen Sild.

If you haven’t heard Northern Voices yet then make sure you get to one of their performances of Handel’s Orotorio Samson at St Nicholas Church, Guisborough, on Saturday, March 7, at 7.30pm, or at St. Hilda’s Church, Hartlepool, on Saturday, March 14, at 7pm.
