IN ARTS News on September 19, I previewed the music programme in Middlesbrough Town Hall, writes Peter Bevan.

In my enthusiasm to promote their concerts I overstepped the mark and referred to these as being virtually the only opportunities to hear symphonic music in the region.

I ought to have referred to it being a rare opportunity to hear the international orchestras which are the mainstay of the series.

Tim Jackson, director of Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, rightly took me to task (Letters to the Editor, October 3) referring to the orchestra's sterling work in providing high quality symphonic concerts for the last 32 years.

I cannot plead ignorance, as it was already planned that when space permitted a similar preview would appear based on the 15 concerts by this orchestra and others in Cleveland and North Yorkshire.

The present team of reviewers will be taking up his offer to review some of these concerts.

As mentioned by Mr Jackson, the next two by Cleveland Chamber Orchestra are at the Influence Church, Richmond, tomorrow evening (October 18) and Stokesley Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon.

Both will feature Rodrigo’s Concierto d’Aranjuez with Carl Herring as solo guitarist, plus Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, the “Scottish”, and Bizet’s Suite Jeux d’Enfants.

Tickets for Richmond are available at the door or book at 01748 822001, and for Stokesley, either at the door or 01748 821343.
