TWO women performers decided to tackle the Tour de France for dramatic purposes when it cycled through Hawes and will present the hilarious results in a fundraising show in the town next month.

Lippy Logic Rides Again features original comedy and drama written, produced and presented by Christine Hooley and Veronica Caperon.

The pair, from the Settle area, formed Lippy Logic last year after being unable to find suitable comedy and drama sketches for women to perform.

So they sat down and wrote their own, describing their style as "Alan Bennett meets Victoria Wood". Performances at Grassington Festival Fringe and the Yorkshire Festival Fringe earlier this year were well received.

The duo's new show will be presented at the Dales Countryside Museum on Wednesday, October 8, in aid of Hawes Church restoration fund.

The evening will include a piece based on their encounter with one of the world's greatest sporting events near Hawes along with another new piece, Photographing Kites, which stirs up poignant family memories with humour and acute observation of human emotion.

To round off the programme they will deliver their new song with musical accompaniment to the unsuspecting public.

Caperon, who received critical acclaim for her witty writing skills, runs a village post office in the Yorkshire Dales while Hooley, praised for her ability to get under the skin of the characters she portrays, is a professional photographer and copywriter.

Tickets cost £8 are available from 01969 666960, annpilling@aol.com, The Sweet Shop & Whites of Wensleydale, Hawes. Details and reviews about the show and Lippy Logic can be found at lippylogic.co.uk.
