WHERE might you find a porcelain elephant, a stone squirrel and a paper fox sharing a room?

Animal Magic, an exhibition opening today at Masham Gallery, explores one of the more traditional areas of inspiration for artists.

Masham is surrounded by rolling hills and moorland so sheep, cows, foxes, hares and birds are often a source of inspiration for artists in the area.

Animal Magic takes a look at birds and beasts through a range of mediums including print, ceramics, paper mache and stone. Local wildlife is joined by more exotic creatures in a funny and unusual celebration of furry, feathered, winged and hoofed friends.

It runs until the end of August featuring work by Hester Cox (printmaking), Pratima Kramer (ceramics), Abigail Brown (paper mache), Nicky Tudor (mosaic), Corinne Young (textiles), Nick Wonham (printmaking), Jennifer Tetlow (stone carving), Nicky Clacy (paper mache), Claire West (painting), Anna Wiscombe (wood) and Henrietta Corbett (print and metal).
