AS PART of the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire, Thirsk charity Rural Arts invited children aged five- 17 to spend a day with artist Kim Coley creating Yorkshire twists on French impressionist paintings.
Almost 30 children attended the free painting day which saw the theme expanded to include all French or French-inspired artists. One young artist, Elizabeth Parker, 11, re-imagined Munch’s The Scream as a rider on Lightwater Valley’s The Ultimate.
Thirsk businesses responded to a request to host a young artist’s work over Le Tour season and this led to the creation of the Grand DepART Art Trail, which runs until July 12, with prizes.
