TWO young actors from the Saltburn ’53 Drama Group have a new challenge this week at Saltburn Drama Festival. Noah Harrison and Natasha Graham won several awards for their performances in last year’s play The Edge, by Ron Nicol, which was emotionally demanding. This year both have comic animal parts in Pig Tale, a modern retelling of The Three Little Pigs by the same playwright, presented by the same director, Tony Kirlew.

“The Edge was more naturalistic, but Pig Tale is equally challenging as a comedy, because you need to get laughs,” said Noah. “I found The Edge difficult because of the intensity and emotion of the subject matter.”

“The 12-strong cast for Pig Tale are aged from 11 to 17. It’s great to see young people working together as part of a team,” said director Tony Kirlew.

“Taking part in drama gives them an opportunity to develop skills such as working to deadlines, interacting constructively and creatively with widely differing age groups, self-discipline and communication skills.”

The festival continues until tomorrow. Pig Tale is performed tonight.

Doors and bar open at 6.45pm and curtain-up is 7.30pm (6.15pm and 7pm tomorrow).

Tickets cost £7, concessions £5, available from Saltburn Health Food Shop, the theatre box Office and online at saltburnarts.co.uk.
