THE Courthouse Gallery at Rural Arts in Thirsk has an exhibition by the British artist Neil McBride. The Crowd Pleasers features a wide selection of his work, including his highly regarded “people paintings” Erosion and Close Encounter; the latter was well received at Masham Arts Festival exhibition.
Born in 1950, McBride is one of Britain’s most versatile artists and has regular exhibitions in galleries throughout Yorkshire. Based near York, he is exceptionally fond of the North Yorkshire countryside and his contemporary paintings include expressive landscapes, colourful coastal scenes, conceptual and abstract art, urban images and corporate art in acrylic and oil. The exhibition continues until March 29. Opening times are Monday to Saturday, 10am-4.30pm.
