GUISBOROUGH Theatre Club is to produce Pride and Prejudice at the beginning of April.

The Jane Austen classic novel, which was made more widely known by the 1995 TV series starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, is set in Regency England.

The arrival in the neighbourhood of two wealthy and eligible young men causes havoc in the Bennett household where Mrs Bennett’s great aim in life is to get her five daughters married to rich husbands.

But pride in some quarters and prejudice in others complicates matters, especially when there is an elopement. Add a creepy clergyman, a love-rat, a domineering aunt and a jealous sister and you have all the ingredients for an entertaining evening where love conquers all – but only after much heart-searching.

The play will be performed at St Nicholas’ Church Hall in Bow Street, Guisborough, from Wednesday to Friday, April 2-4, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6, from Guisborough Bookshop, Chaloner Street, and SkyBlueRed Studio, Church Street, or by calling 07843-429129.
