A THEATRE group for young people has handed out further awards.

Run by tutors Sue Hedges and Tracey Lacey, Richmondshire Youth Theatre contains a group highly-talented of young thespians. Following awards for the Leyburn team it was the turn of Richmond.

Trophies and certificates were given to senior students for outstanding achievement: Thomas Chandler for writing the play The Miners of Lead; and Imogen Goodchild and Jack Hedges for outstanding support on the touring production We are Such Stuff as Memories are Made On. Two awards went to James Montgomery and Lillie Tuite for their work on tour.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Richmond, Cllr Stuart Parsons and Lyn Glover, presented the awards. Cllr Parsons congratulated Richmond Youth Theatre for a successful season following a successful tour of the district highlighting the realities of living with and being affected by dementia.

Coach Sue Hedges said: “We hand out outstanding contribution to youth theatre awards annually; each trophy is donated by a former pupil to encourage current members on their youth theatre journey.”

Sessions for young people are at both Richmond and Leyburn. For details call Ms Hedges on 07709 870861 or email richmondshireyouththeatre@gmail.com or visit the website.
