A DALES artist has donated her painting of The Station in Richmond to mark a decade of community use since its restoration.

Sue Dewhurst has given her painting of the building plus the rights to 100 signed limited edition prints to mark the tenth anniversary of the transformation of the premises which is now a thriving cinema and art and community centre. The painting and prints are being raffled to raise money for the centre.

Ms Dewhurst said: "I felt compelled to do something as an artist to mark The Station's tenth birthday. The renovation was completed as I moved to the area and I had heard many things about it from my late father, who completed his National Service in Catterick and often spoke of his train journey.

"In the early days I was on the art panel helping to select artists and hanging exhibitions. I had my first solo exhibition here and feel I have 'grown up' as an artist within its walls."

Ms Dewhurst is The Station's shops co-ordinator. Raffle tickets are available at The Station. The draw will take place on the tenth birthday of the restoration on November 9. For more information go to suedewhurst.co.uk.
