THE refurbished former Majestic cinema in Darlington with its Art Deco surroundings is the perfect backdrop for a textile exhibition planned for spring.
It is being organised by Darlington Embroiders' Guild for Darlington Arts Festival in May.
Joy Bradshaw, from the guild, said: “We are using Art Deco as an overall theme to complement the building and highlight the talent of our members.”
The exhibition, featuring works using paint, fabric and plastics, will be held in the foyer and lounge bar from Tuesday, May 9, until Thursday, May 25.
The guild, which was established in the 1970s, is appealing for more members.
Ms Bradshaw said: “People should not be put off by their level of skill. We encourage anyone who has an interest in retaining the old skills of needlework or is interested in learning a new skill to come forward, even if you have never picked up a needle in your life.”
The Majestic is situated in Bondgate. Darlington Arts Festival starts on Thursday, April 27, and runs until Wednesday, May 31. For information, visit darlingtonforculture.org.
