RIPON International Festival has announced a programme of Great Classics for its 20th anniversary spring concert with the Royal Northern Sinfonia at Ripon Cathedral on Saturday, May 6.
The Royal Northern Sinfonia will be conducted by the festival’s artistic director and co-founder, Janusz Piotrowicz, in Beethoven’s Coriolan, Brahms’ violin concerto and Tchaikovsky’s mighty Fifth Symphony.
A musician of compelling insight, his mesmerizing performances are renowned for clarity, spiritual intensity and depth of sound sheer exhilaration.
Violinist Jennifer Pike (BBC Young Musician Winner), who gave a sensational performance of the Mendelssohn with Janusz and London Mozart Players in 2015, returns to play Brahms’ towering masterpiece with its heart-rending melodies and virtuoso pyrotechnics.
She has received ecstatic reviews for her performances and recordings with the CBSO and the Bergen Philharmonic. For tickets contact Ripon Festival on 01765 605508, Harrogate Theatre on 01423 502116 or
