THE Station in Richmond has organised a series of Tuesday Talks after running a pilot of the idea earlier this year which saw almost all the events sell out.

The autumn series of 12 talks runs until the beginning of December with speakers covering a wide range of topics, including three about the arts.

The first of these is Art and Yorkshire: from Hockney to Turner, on Tuesday, September 9, from 10am-noon. Jane Sellars, curator of art at Harrogate Borough Council, will speak on artists inspired by Yorkshire.

Her latest exhibition at the Mercer Art Gallery brings together more than 100 paintings, photographs and sculptures by Yorkshire artists and is on show until October 12.

On October 21, in Rain Later, Good, watercolourist Peter Collyer will speak about his travels to paint locations mentioned in the Shipping Forecast.

On November 25, screenwriter Juliette Towhide gives an insight into writing for television and the cinema.

Her screenplays include Calendar Girls, Death Comes to Pemberley and Testament of Youth, and she is working on a Film 4 feature about a CIA coup in Iran and a study of the Brontës.

Tickets cost £7.

Also available is a £2 season voucher redeemable on the day.
