FATHER and daughter musicians John and Alison Gill, from Hartlepool, will play a Shostakovich concerto during a concert by Cleveland Philharmonic Choir at Stockton Parish Church on Saturday, April 12, at 7.30pm.

Alison will play the virtuoso piano part in the Concerto No.1 for piano and trumpet and her father, principal cornet with Fishburn Band, will play the trumpet. They will be accompanied by players from the Mowbray Orchestra.

The choir, with more than 100 voices, will start the concert with a 15-minute work by Vaughan Williams called Benedicite. The soaring soprano part will be sung by Penelope Randall-Davis, who has sung in opera and in concert all over the world.

Schubert’s Mass No 6in E flat major will be performed by choir, orchestra and five soloists: Penny Randall-Davis and young singers all with North-East connections, mezzo Charlotte Heslop, tenors Michael Bradley and Christopher Griksaitis and bass Ben Craw.

John Forsyth is the conductor.

Tickets cost £14, £12 concessions, £2 students and children, from Denis Rigg on 01642-782009, online at clevelandphilharmonicchoir.com and at the door.
