'Significant milestone' approaches for Darlington leisure development

Maybe they are trying to come up with some ideas ? Usually a recipe of disaster. How come they are not building the car park first, so that everyone has somewhere to park when visiting the cinema ? I bet they don't offer free parking to people using the cinema, like Middlesbrough.Went to Middlesbrough for the first time on Saturday, Parking is free for two hours or a pound for a full day. It was easy to get in and out of. There is lots more choice when it comes to shopping., If you are going by bus there is a "state of the art" bus station which is so easy to use compared to Darlington's confused layout..
Darlington really does need to up its game because if you are torn between the two it is a no brainer and that is without considering Teesside Park and the Metro Centre.

There is clearly little visitor want for the museum - so let it close.

Councillors make plans for the future of the arts in Darlington
I understand the building is rotten inside and that it will be very expensive to repair, so it would financially sensible to pull it down and build some houses on it. Make sure to weigh that scrap bit of metal in, too - it's been stood there for too many years and the Art Centre can't afford for Dixon & Co. to come and collect it.
We cannot afford to fund art and its expensive price tags that go with it. Nor should we be encouraging artists with the imagination and art skills of an baby.

I could think of a few ways to cut the budget by a huge amount. I worry that the thieves in power might not like my suggestions though.

Cash-strapped council to spend more than £100,000 on modernising lifts
They have stairs- use them!!! ATOS expect disabled people to use stairs to go for their medical assessments by basing all their assessment centres on first floors, so if disabled people are expected to use stairs so can the the town hall lot. Spend the money fixing some of the potholes in the roads. I wish the towns people would wake up and stop voting these useless left wing labour councillors in - that doesn't mean you have to vote tory either, but there must be something better than this lot. Incidentally the new proposed road layout near stone bridge is a disaster waiting to happen, more cash wasted and more hold ups because of traffic lights- just like that monstrosity on haughton road which should have been a normal roundabout instead of the expensive and ridiculous throughabout.

Where is the money going indeed? How much does it cons to 'maintain' these zones each year.???
I think it goes without saying that this greedy wasteful council is profiteering from residents parking schemes. Why would anyone expect it to be different?
