SIMON Uzokwe has been named in England Students' 42-man training squad ahead of their two internationals against Ireland Universities and French Students in April.

Uzokwe is currently studying for a degree at Sunderland University, combining his studies with his rugby at Darlington Mowden Park.

The 22-year old is the only player from his university to be selected, and Mowden Park's director of rugby Danny Brown was delighted to hear of the call up.

Brown said: "It's great to see Simon involved with the England Students for the second year running, having had a tough season returning from knee surgery. It's been great to have him back in the Mowden set up playing well, and I'm sure that's gone a long way to him being recognized by England Students."

Uzokwe has been a huge influence of late for Mowden Park, scoring five tries in his 11 appearances so far this season.

Having played in the back row as well as at hooker, Uzokwe remains a key part of Brown's plans for the rest of the campaign.

He said: "Simon continues to develop as a player, and we look forward to seeing him continue his recent run of form in our remaining five games."

Mowden Park fans will be hoping to see Uzokwe carry on his recent glut of tries in their next home game against league leaders Hartpury College on Saturday, March 25.
