‘Stupid’ tries cost Tynedale

TYNEDALE winger Sep Visser is confident his side can start moving up the table as long as they stop conceding “stupid” tries.

The Dutchman scored three tries in a narrow 28-27 defeat at Cinderford on Saturday – a match that saw the visitors convert only one of their five tries and miss two late kicks to win the game.

But Visser insists it was not the missed conversions but a sloppy start to the second half that cost them the victory at a side just above them in the table.

He said: “You could always say we should have made the kicks but we should have been sharper in the second half and not given away those stupid tries.

“We played well in the first half but came out after the break and conceded three tries in the first 15 minutes so it was very disappointing for us.

“It’s nice that I’ve scored five tries in my last two games but I would rather score fewer tries and win than score a hat-trick and lose.

“We scored some amazing tries at the weekend and showed that we are capable and I’m confident we can beat most teams – we just have to start doing it.”

Tynedale sit second bottom in the SSE National League One having lost seven of their previous eight matches.
