Newcastle & D.M.C. National S3 Parts Championship Trial, Allenheads, Sunday

FACEBY joiner Guy Kendrew won the national Travers Trophy national trial at Allenheads, Weardale on Sunday where he rode the entire forty sections without penalty. Even five times winner Richard Sadler could not match Kendrews's brilliant ride. The eighty seventh staging of the legendary trial signalled the final trial in the S3 Parts championship which was won by Ashby de la Zouch Sherco teamster Luke Walker. Brompton Swales contender James Stones kept Kendrew under pressure but Guy did not make any mistakes whereas Sadler's bid for victory number six faded when he stopped in the stream at East Harthope. Skeeby's Jonathan Richardson, a front runner in the forthcoming Scott Trial, missed the rostrum by a single mark. Whickham's John Crinson flew the North East Centre A.C.U. flag with a fine fifth place that edged out new S3 Parts Champion Luke Walker. Only eighteen riders contended the S3 Parts class while seventy Clubmen enjoyed great day out.

Newcastle's Joe Hutchinson enjoyed his day in Weardale more than his rivals because he won the Clubman class from Blaydon's Philip Baxter and Lancashire contender Simon Hartley.

Scarborough & D.M.C. September Trial, Low North Park, Harwood Dale, Sunday

IAN AUSTERMUHLE, the lone expert at Scarborough club`s September trial on Sunday, could have done with a little more competition. Dave Wilkinson was Clerk of Course for the day and the three laps of twelve sections round Low North Park proved no bother to Austermuhle, only one mark lost on the awkward fifth section. Ride of the day had to be from Fryup`s Nikita Smith edging out Malton's Ben Teasdale.

Whitby`s Mike Noble, posting great rides around this course all season, topped the A class once again by a wide margin, this time the likes of Colin Chapman, Rob McNeil and Barry Chapman all trailing him home by six marks or more, gaining his advantage on the very first section with only one mark going astray, but it was Matt Sharp and Paul Nelson who shared the glory of the only riders to remain clean on the fifth section.
