THE writing was on the wall at the West Leeds Motor Club White Rose Trial at Cam Head, Hawes, when Richard Sadler arrived at the dreaded Troutbeck section on Sunday afternoon.

The West Witton joiner had ridden 24 sections on his Beta UK machine without penalties.

The Gritstone section caught Dan Thorpe and Guy Kendrew, while Rawdon's Sam Beecroft-Penny, after a long inspection, and James Stones got through. Alderson's 25 score topped the 50/50 class.

Roman Kyrnyckyj journeyed from Lincolnshire to beat Brendan Suffell and Richard Taylor to win the clubman class by a fair margin.

Malton's Ian Austermuhle did well to head the expert entry after celebrating his 35th birthday, holding off the returning Simon Kershaw. Inter winner Pete Sharp was next on two, with Bevan Blacker on three.

Sharp dominated the intermediate class, while Mark Harrison and John Benton enjoyed a great battle. Thirsk's Nigel Todd enjoyed victory in Clubman A by one mark from Scorpa-mounted Chris Brown.
