SPORTSMANS FC are through to the final of the League Challenge Cup after last Sunday saw them overcome Broughton Hibs, 3-1. Goals from Danny McLachlan, Mikey Stevens and Aaron Ramsbottom were enough despite a late reply from Hibs' Carl Hall.

In next month's final at Northallerton, Sportsmans will face the winners of this weekend's semi final clash between Robert Thompsons and Gt. Ayton Sheriffs.

In Division One, the only match to go ahead saw Travaux FC win 2-1 at relegated Brompton-on-Swale. Chris Duckett fired Travaux into a 41st minute lead but Brompton looked to have picked up a rare point when, two minutes into the second half, Marshall Thorogood equalised. However, with less than three minutes left on the clock, Thorogood put through his own goal to give Travaux victory.

The Division Two title race looks set to go down to the wire after second-placed Stokesley Wanderers were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Beckside. Andrew Blenkharn's early goal fired the Becksiders in front but on the stroke of half time, Shaun Harrison turned home a cross from Matty Croft and that was the way it finished.

Gt. Ayton Sheriffs, in third place, cut the gap on Stokesley to just four points with a 5-0 thrashing of bottom side Osmotherley Rangers. Mark Shimwell scored twice in the first half while Ash Woodier, Alex Grainge and Ian Johnson completed the scoring. Leaders Brompton Juniors, who were not in action, are six points clear at the top but have played three games more.

At the other end of the table, already-relegated West Tanfield were beaten 3-2 by Topcliffe. Niki Westbury scored twice in the opening half an hour to put Tanfield on course for what would have been only a second league win of the season, but Topcliffe responded with a goal just before the break. In the second half, Tanfield looked to have held on but Topcliffe scored twice in the final ten minutes to grab all three points.

Thirsk Town are now just two wins away from clinching the Division Three title after a 3-2 success at Romanby 2014. Chris Smales gave Romanby an early lead but three goals in nine minutes either side of the break put Thirsk in control. In the 38th minute, Lee Johnson equalised before a Michael Lax brace made it 3-1. Smales' second in the final minute set up a tense finale but Thirsk held on and they will now be champions if they win their final two matches.

Workies concluded their league fixtures with 5-1 home win over Masham. Dave Tennant gave Workies a half time lead but within three minutes of the restart, Olly Anderson brought Masham level. However, Tennant scored again moments later before substitute Mike Beales, Kieran Timmons; with a 20-yard lob, and Tennant, to complete his hat-trick, sealed the points

The Standard are still hoping for a top three finish after winning 6-1 at County Arms. Dean Grieg's goal gave Standard a narrow half time advantage but three goals in ten second half minutes sealed the points. Dan Waind made it 2-0 from the penalty spot, after a foul on Silas Bird, while Bart Schofield's 30-yard screamer and Michael Cooper added to the County misery. Waind and Phil Sharpe then completed the scoring before Andrew Osgood grabbed a late consolation.
