DIVISION ONE leaders Robert Thompsons last Sunday moved three points clear at the top of the table with a 3-1 home victory over Stokesley SC.

A goal from Dan McCalmont gave Thompsons a narrow half time advantage which on the hour Stu Rose doubled. With ten minutes to play, Lee Donachie pulled one back for the visitors but Rose grabbed his second soon after to seal a twelfth win out of twelve this season for Thompsons.

Bottom side Brompton-on-Swale finally picked up their first points of the season at the fourteenth time of asking, winning 3-1 at Catterick Village. First half goals from James Barron and David Addison put Brompton on course for their first win of the season, and while Village did pull one back on the hour, Addison scored his second to give Brompton the points at last.

Only one game in Division Two survived the weather and it saw Golden Lion move into the top three with a 6-3 victory over struggling West Tanfield. John Hartley gave Tanfield an early lead but by the break Alan Brieley, Tom Chapman and Christopher Hope had the Lion in control. Hope went on to score a further three times in the second half before late goals from Chris Metcalfe and Matt Smith gave Tanfield some consolation.

The big game in Division Three saw Thirsk Town move up to second with a 2-0 victory at Standard FC, who began the day above them. Goals either side of the break from Joseph Beevers and Liam Cook gave Thirsk the points to move them to within seven points leaders Knayton with four games in hand.

Workies are third despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Streetlam Farmers. Romain Labarre gave the Farmers an early lead and then just before the break missed a great chance to double their advantage; shooting wide when one-on-one with the goalkeeper. But Workies struck back in the second half with a goal from Mike Beales and that was the way it finished.

County Arms are up to fifth after beating Jolly Minister, 6-1. Goals in the opening ten minutes from Brad King and Andrew Osgood put County in control, while before the break, Jordan Wallace and Lee Larkin ended the contest. In the second half, Larkin and Osgood were on target again to seal a comfortable County success. Ryan Wilbor scored for the Ministermen.

Romanby 2014 are sixth after a hard-fought 4-2 home win over Oddfellows Arms. Sean McCaskill headed Romanby in front from a Kris Frost cross, while soon after, Roy Smith doubled their advantage. The visitors fought back with goals from Liam Frost and Serhat Ozkanli and that was the way it remained until the final ten minutes. Kris Frost then scored a stunning half-volley from fully 40 yards to put Romanby back in front before in stoppage time, Chris Smales sealed the points.
