IT IS very tight at the top of the table with just six points now separating the top five clubs after last Saturday's round of matches.

Leaders Colburn Town increased their lead at the top to three points with a 13-0 thrashing of bottom side Catterick Rovers.

This week it was Stu Murray's turn to grab the headlines with a six-goal haul, while Brandon Bishop, with two, Tom Sweeney, Liam Hall, Jamie Dempster, Craig Teasdale and Michael Brend completed the rout. Murray now has 35 goals for the season with Sweeney on 31.

Richmond Mavericks Reserves are up to second after a 5-3 home win over Spennithorne and Harmby.

Early goals from Martin Clarke and Phil Stirling set the Mavs on their way, while Richard Curruthers and Mickey Sartini made it 4-0. Just before the break, Liam Reeves pulled one back for Spenni but on the hour Scott Fenney restored the hosts four-goal cushion. The Mavericks eased off after that, allowing Reeves and James Stanger to add to the Speni tally but it was no more than a consolation in the end.

Catterick Garrison Football Centre are third, just three points off the top, after beating Askrigg United, 16-1. Jez Mortimer struck four times while strike-partner Steven Files grabbed a hat-trick. The goals flowed as Tom Holland and Dan Deeney both struck twice, while Liam Walker, Damian Hargreaves, Gav Rudd and Neil Wright were also on target.

Unicorn FC are fifth, six points off the top with a game in hand, after a late goal from substitute Gav Armstrong gave them a narrow and hard-fought 1-0 home victory over Bedale Town Reserves.

Richmond Town Academy lead the chasing pack, although they were disappointed to be held to a 3-3 draw by visitors Richmond Buck Inn. The Academy looked set for all three points with early goals from Stu Pigg, Ryan Howe and Sam Pickersgill. But the Buck staged a fine comeback with goals from Mickey White and Mark Swanwick before the break, and a late equaliser from David Eggleston.

Reeth beat Carperby Rovers, 2-1, thanks to first half goals from Steven Fleming and Joe Woodall. Immediately after the break, Matthew Guy replied for Rovers but they were unable to find an equaliser as Reeth held on for the points.
