ONLY ONE game beat the freezing weather conditions last Sunday and it saw Romanby 2014 and Streetlam Farmers produced an 11-goal thriller in Division Three. The Farmers led twice in the first half but Romanby struck back with a brace from Chris Smales to make it 2-2 at the break. The first was a beautiful 18-pass move which Smales finished off after a neat ball from Adam Leahy, while the second saw Smales combine well with the appropriately named Kris Frost.

Romanby then took control at the start of the second half as Sean McCaskill headed home a long throw from Leahy before Smales completed his second hat-trick in three weeks with a fine solo effort. The Farmers quickly made it 4-3 and only some solid defending from Romanby, and Jonathan Fishburn in particular, kept them at bay. But with 20 minutes left, Leahy created a second for McCaskill. Streetlam refused to lie down however, and scored again but Frost hit a stunning left footed volley in the 75th minute to make it 6-4. The Farmers did add a fifth in the closing stages but Romanby held on for a thrilling victory that keeps them on the fringes of the promotion race.
