Northallerton Town 4 Esh Winning 0

A HAT-TRICK from Arron Ramsbottom and a strike from substitute Damon Reaks last Saturday gave Northallerton Town a comfortable victory over struggling Esh Winning.

Having put ten past the same opposition on the opening day of the season, Town had to settle for just four this time as Ramsbottom struck twice before the break and once in the second half before Reaks completed the scoring.

On a cold, windy afternoon in North Yorkshire, Town started brightly and had the ball in the net after just six minutes through Kalumn Holbrook but the referee's assistant had already flagged for offside.

However, the breakthrough did arrive just four minutes later; Ramsbottom finishing off some fine work from Jamie Bowman. And it was 2-0 moments later when Ramsbottom scored his second after the Esh defence failed to clear a Stuart Owen free kick.

The struggling visitors came more into the game as the half progressed but the nearest they came to a goal was an effort from Richard Addison which produced a punched clearance from Town goalkeeper Matty Calvert.

Town had a great chance to seal the points in the 60th minute when Jimmy Muir crossed from the right but Holbrook could not find the target. However, with 20 minutes remaining, Town did grab a third. A lovely move involving Muir and Holbrook ended with Ramsbottom scoring his first hat-trick for the club.

It was 4-0 soon after when substitute Ben Darville combined with fellow replacement who Reaks headed home from close range.

Town travel to Willington tomorrow. Kick off at Hall Lane is 3pm.

Following the match, Northallerton Town manager Steve Skinner resigned to take over at West Auckland. His assistant, Danny Mellanby, has been appointed as Skinner's replacement with immediate effect.
