AFTER a week's festive break, the league returns tomorrow and the big game sees fourth-placed Unicorn FC face second-placed Richmond Mavericks.

Unicorn will start the day three points behind their visitors but with two games in hand so a tight game is expected. Unicorn will be looking to bounce back from a shock defeat against Richmond Town Academy last time out.

League leaders Hawes United will be favourites to beat struggling Carperby Rovers while third-placed Colburn Town face a tricky trip to in-form Reeth.

Elsewhere, bottom side Askrigg United host Richmond Buck Inn, Catterick Rovers meet Richmond Town Academy and Spennithorne and Harmby face Catterick Garrison Football Centre.

ONLY three games beat the freezing weather conditions last Sunday. In Division Two, leaders Brompton Juniors moved six points clear at the top with a 6-2 win at Golden Lion.

Colin Anderson hit a hat-trick for the second week in a row while Ryan Elders, Adam Wilson and James Horsefield completed the scoring. Chris Hope and Kyle O'Gorman replied for the Lion, who remain fifth.

In Division Three Standard FC closed the gap on long term leaders Knayton to four points with an 8-1 thrashing of Vale of York. The match was over before the break as four goals from Phil Sharpe and further strikes from Phil Wrightson and Dan Waind made it 6-0. In the second half, Sharpe and Bart Schofield added to the score-line before Dan Varley scored a late Vale consolation.

The only other game to go ahead saw Streetlam Farmers and Oddfellows Arms fight out a 1-1 draw. Mark Best was on target for improving Oddfellows but before the break, Jamie Callaghan equalised and that was the way it finished.
