TEN-MAN Croft FC and Blue Star both looked to have secured their Division One status after they drew 1-1 at Aldborough St John on Sunday.

Despite the early dismissal of goalkeeper Marc Briggs, Croft took the lead on the hour with a strike from Darren Pearson but Star rescued what could prove to be a vital point with a last-gasp Stephen MacVean equaliser.

The Division Two title will go down to the last day after both challengers won again last weekend. Northallerton WMC took over at the top with an impressive 5-2 home win over Osmotherley FC, who may now miss out on promotion altogether.

A brace from Dan Baxter and a strike from Ross Hodgson put the Workies in control by the break, although Richard Buller headed Ossie back into it soon after the restart. However, Mikey Stevens and Wayne Thompson sealed the points before Neil Fawcett grabbed a late Ossie consolation.

Appleton Wiske are second, but only on goal difference, after thrashing Knayton 7-0.

Rory Dodds struck four times, while Dan Jones (2), and Martyn Dauber completed the scoring. The title will be decided on Sunday when the Workies travel to Cowtons while Appleton face Osmotherley FC.

Leyburn All-Stars, once title contenders themselves, ended their campaign in mid-table after a 5-3 home defeat to Cowtons. The visitors raced into an early three-goal lead with a brace from Anth Weighall and a strike from Gerry Metcalfe, but Leyburn drew level thanks to efforts from Carl Handley, Paul Stevenson and Ben Pritchard either side of the break. That appeared to the way it would finish but Cowtons grabbed all three points with late goals from Paul Egglestone and Matty Bromirskij.

At the bottom of the table, Streetlam Farmers remain in trouble after being held to a 2-2 draw at Ainderby SC. The hosts led twice with goals from Will Stevenson and Adam Hodgson, but the Farmers grabbed a point with goals from Richard Coates and Tom Chapman in the final 20 minutes.

With Knayton and Bar One looking doomed, the final relegation place looks to be between Streetlam and Three Coopers, who meet on Sunday in a winner-takes-all contest.

Topcliffe are still on course for the Division Three title despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Osmotherley Rangers.

Knowing a win would give them the title, Topcliffe led with a goal from Aaran Bumby, but Rangers denied them with an equaliser from Rich Thompson 20 minutes from time.
