DIVISION One leaders Sportsmans FC moved six points clear atthe top after a 4-1 win atRobertThompsons lastSunday.

The newly-crowned Frank Bainbridge Cup winners are chasing a possible treble this season and they recovered from the loss of an early goal to Stu Rose to ensure three points. Edd Craven and an own goal saw the leaders in front by the break, while Scott McNichol and cup final hero Col Andersonsealedthepoints in the second half.

Henleys Athletic, beaten by Sportsmans in the cup final three days earlier, saw their title hopes all but ended after being held to a 4-4 draw at Kildale. A goal from Martin Rogangave thehostsanarrow half time advantage which he doubled soon after the restart, but Leon Roberts, Andy Allen and Callum Fletcher turned the match in Henleys’ favour with 20 minutes remaining.

John Bennettthen made it 3-3 but Nathan Clarke looked to have won it for the visitors ten minutes from time. However, Bennett equalised again and it finished all-square to leave Henleys nine points off the top with only four games to play.

Blue Star moved away from the relegation zone with a 2-1 home success over fellowstrugglers Croft FC. Early goals from Dave James and Ryan Leslie sealed the points despite a reply from Croft’s Mark Swanwick before the break.

Travaux FC are the new leaders of Division Two after coming from behind to beat Streetlam Farmers 3-2.

Stephen Tweddle gave the Farmers a half time lead, but goals from Dan Morris, Paul Brown and Chris Duckett sent Travaux top, despite a late Nigel Robson reply.

Overnight leaders Northalleton WMC slipped down to second after losing 2-1 at Osmotherley. Craig Melrose gave the hosts a 25th minute lead from long range but Dan Baxter brought the Workies level just before the break. Jacob MacNaughton then restored the hosts advantage on the hour and they withstood a late Workies onslaught to hold on for all three points. They are now just two points off the top with two games in hand.

AppletonWiske arenow one point off the top with three games in hand after a 4-1 home win over Bar One. Andy Cochrane and Dan Jones put Wiske in control by the break while Jones went on to complete his hat-trick in the second half to seal a comfortable Appleton victory.

Leyburn All-Stars are still in the title hunt after a 3-2 home success against Three Coopers. Mark Patchett put Coopers ahead inside the opening minute but Lee Davison and Scott Greenway turned the match in Leyburn’s favour within half an hour. Matthew Allison then equalised for Coopers before the break but Davison won it nine minutes into the second period to keep Leyburn within two points of the top.

Cowtons saw their promotion hopes suffer a blow as they were beaten 6-2 by visitors Ainderby SC. A goal from Mark Sims gave the hosts a half time advantage but Ainderby turned on the style after the break. Matthew Fishburn scored twice, while a Kyle O’Gorman penalty and further efforts from John Dolan, Jonathan Wood and Will Stevenson sealed the points.

Dale Middleton grabbed the Cowtons consolation.

The Ship are still in promotion contention after a 3-0 win at Brompton-on-Swale – James Muirhead, Nick Dagg and Mark Taylor getting the goals.

Topcliffe closed the gap on Division Three leaders West Tanfield to 11 points with five games in hand after a 4-2 win atVale ofYork. GarethBarber, Luke Burnell, Duncan Padget and Dion Costick were all on targetto keep Topcliffe in contention.

Golden Lion, Romanby remain third after a 3-1 home win over Masham. Rob Fraser scored in each half, while Michael Morgan was also on target as Lion warmed up for their upcoming cup final appearance in fine style.

Osmotherley Rangers are fourth after a 5-1 win at Masons Arms. Robbie Nelmes and a brace from Matty Lamb put Rangers in control by the break while Rich Thompson strucktwice inthe secondhalf.

Dave Tennant scored the Masons consolation.

Station Hotel enjoyed a 2-0 success against local rivals County Arms thanks to first half goals from Liam Hall and Gary Toman, while Jolly Minister beat Brompton FC 3-1.

John Hardcastle gave Brompton a first halflead, but strikes from Alex O’Neill and a Lee Elsworth brace gave the Ministermen the points. Elsworth would have had a hat-trick too had he not blasted over from the penalty spot on the hour.
