IN Division One, Sinnington won a closely contested game at Gillamoor 1-0 and now need just two points from their remaining three league games to clinch the Division One title for the first time since season 1984-85 when the league had just one division.

The all-important breakthrough arrived just ten minutes from time when the Sinners scored the vital goal.

Graham Bateman pushed forward from midfield and supplied a lovely ball for Robbie Preston to run on and score the vital goal to all but end Gillamoor’s championship ambitions. Gillamoor remain third in the table.

Bagby andBalkbeatHeslerton 3-2 in a five-goalthriller in a game oftwo halves.The first half saw Bagby and Balk cruise into a two-goal lead with goals scored by Martin Kendall after 20 minutes and Dan George on the half hour mark after the opening 15 minutes had been fairly even.

Heslerton used their substitutesathalftimeandcame out much stronger, scoring two goals in the opening ten minutes by David Thompson and Dan Simpson. Heslerton were then down to ten men when Lee Clayton had to go off injured and all substitutes had beenused.Heslerton were still well on top until Bagby and Balk broke away and scored with a Darren Bell 25-yard shot but Bagby and Balk held on for the three points thanks to some outstanding saves by their goalkeeper Tommy Hunter.

Easingwold Town 3rds have reached the final of the PanasonicLeagueDivisionTwoCup after beating a weakened Gillamoor Reserves 4-0 with all four goals scored by Scott Dixon,the formerHuby United player, who scored twice in each half to put the league newcomers into the final in their first season in the Beckett League.
