However, with just two minutes remaining, Colburn kept their griponthe trophy whenNige Cole turnedhomeafree-kick from Ashley McInnereny to send the tie into extra time.

But it was Reeth who grabbedthe winner fiveminutes into the first extra period when Steve Bainbridge’s shot was deflected past Mutch to send the holders out.

There was even more drama at Kneeton Park where Richmond Town Academy beat Richmond BuckInn7-5,alsoafterextra time. Gary Eggleston fired the Buck into a first minute lead but Craig Soulsby and Josh Woof had the Academy ahead within five minutes. A brace from Mickey White, the second of which came from the penalty spot, turned the tie back in the Buck’s favour, but a quickfire brace from Ben Holmes and a magnificent 30 yard effort from Jonathan Kellett made it 5-3 with less than half an hour played. Danny Glue headed the Buck back into it just before the break and that was the way it stayed until the final ten minutes when White completed his hat-trick to make it 5-5. The Academy then had a player sent off and the Buck came close to winning it as White hit the woodwork, but the ten men held on to take the tie to extra time where goals from Holmes, to complete his hattrick, and Wooff finally sent the Academy through.

The goals also flowed in the tie at Carperby Rovers, as visitors Askrigg United won 4-3. Martyn Alderson, Ryan Alderson and Gary Cockerill looked to have set United on their way to a comfortable victory inside the opening half an hour, but John Pickard pulled one back just before half time and that changed the whole complexion of the tie. Shaun Sproates and Kiefer Bottomley brought Rovers level in the second period and the tie appeared to heading towards extra time, but Martyn Alderson forced home a dramatic winner with the lastkickof thematchtosend Askrigg through.

The final tie of the round did not produce any of the excitement of the others as league leaders Unicorn FC rather stumbled past Catterick Rovers 1-0. A scrappy tie was finally decided ten minutes from time by Liam Waller’s fine 25-yard strike, although only a fine save from Unicorn ‘keeper Gary Nicholson prevented Rovers grabbing a late equaliser.

There was one match in league where Hawes United beat visitors Redmire United 6-0. The hosts dominated from the start and Jonathon Champion tapped them ahead inside ten minutes.

Darren Bell then doubled their advantage with a penalty he had won himself, before Brett Calvert headed home the third before the break after Champion had flicked on a Bell corner.

Hawes eased off in the second period but they still added a further three goals as Johnny Guy made it 4-0 from the penalty spot, before an own goal and a late effort from Scott Guy completed the scoring.
