MATCH of the day in the first division saw leaders Sinnington drop two points when they entertained last season’s champions Kirkbymoorside Reserves with the game of two halves ending in a 2-2 draw.

The Moorsiders were well on top in the first half taking a two goal lead thanks to goals by Jason Brown and Aaran Rivis. The second half saw the Sinners improve and the Moorsiders tire a little, David Wilkinson scored to bring the Sinners back into the game and they levelled when Wayne Moon scored to maintain his recent impressive run of goalscoring.

Union Rovers entertained Rosedale in the second semi-final in this season’s Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy with visitors Rosedale worthy 3-2 away winners against a strengthened Union Rovers side, Rosedale will now play Gillamoor in the final after their semifinal hard fought victory.

Union Took the lead after five minutes when Mikey Brown scored, Rosedale then upped their game and began to dominate proceedings, leading marksman Kyle Clackerty scored a fine equaliser after 35 minutes from an acute angle, Union regained the lead before half time when they caught Rosedale pushing forward and scored on the counter attack by Liam Foley with a neat finish.

In the Ryedale Hospital Cup, Gillamoor entertained Duncombe Park in a five goal thriller in a quarter-final game on Saturday with Gillamoor earning a semi-final home tie against Sinnington after their 3-2 victory.

Park stunned their hosts by taking a two goal first half lead with goals scored by James Craig and a superbly struck 25 yard lob over the home keeper by the impressive David Elington.

Gillamoor came back well to level maters by half time with goals scored by Scott Simpson after excellent work by Josh Tateson and Lee Alexander.

Early in the second half Duncombe Park had two very good chances which crashed against the crossbar by Craig and Christian Ardisonne, the game was end to end as both teams were looking for a winner, the game could have gone either way but in the last minute with extra time looming Shaun Smith combined well with Josh Tateson for Luke McClaren to head the winner.
