Darlington have again raided Whitby Town to make their second signing since the end of last season with Tom Portas joining the club.
In swapping Whitby for Quakers the 22-year-old midfielder has followed striker Graeme Armstrong to Heritage Park.
Darlington manager Martin Gray said: “Tom is a player I’ve had my eye on for a while now and I’m pleased to be bringing him in.
“He will improve the quality of our squad and he will excite the supporters with his style of play.”
Portas scored ten goals in 107 appearances for Whitby after joining them in November 2011.
While Armstrong won a glut of awards this season at Whitby, in 2012-13 Portas was voted Online Player of the Year, plus joint supporters’ and players’ player of the year.
Quakers will play a pre-season friendly at Whitby this summer on a date yet to be announced.
