ALISTAIR Thompson will today bid to add another chapter to his dream year by leading shock troops Aberdeen GSFP to glory against his home-town club, writes David Kelso.

Thompson was born and brought up in Hawick - and the clubs go head to head for the first time at Mansfield Park, with all the pressure heaped on the champion Greens.

Thompson shifted his allegiance when he headed north to university.

Dons manager Brian Clark said: ''This is the kind of game we have been dreaming about since being promoted, and it will be an emotional day for Alistair.''

Hawick, out to atone for last week's defeat by Heriot's, have new injury worries. Winger Morris Dillon was taken to hospital with a shoulder problem after training, so Colin Murray starts on the left wing.

Unbeaten Melrose take on struggling Glasgow Hawks at The Greenyards - but home coach Gary Parker has warned his men, insisting: ''This is a dangerous game for us because we are facing a team who will be getting desperate, even this early in the season. It is nonsense to write them off as a threat.''

Hawks spokesman John Roxburgh admitted: ''This is the most difficult task possible at this stage and we will again be without several key men.''

It should be a close encounter at Meggetland where Boroughmuir meet Currie, both of whom recovered from opening-day losses to win last week.

'Muir backs coach Sean Lineen said: ''Currie are playing a much more expansive game and will be a daunting test for us.''

Currie coach Bruce Macnaughton stated: ''It was great to earn a bonus point against Stirling, but we must be more consistent and clinical.''

Stirling make changes for the visit of Heriot's to Bridgehaugh. Fit-again Murray Fraser is listed at full-back and Robbie Mailer is back at stand-off in place of injured ex-Goldenacre man David Adamson.

Kirkcaldy take on Gala at Beveridge Park with both teams yet to break their duck for the season.
