KYLE Howarth says the decision to return to the Swindon Robins for the 2015 season was a no-brainer.

Howarth spent the second half of the 2013 campaign at the Abbey Stadium but rode for the Coventry Bees last term.

However, Great Britain under-21 star Howarth failed to foster the same relationship with Bees promoter Mick Horton and as he had done with Robins boss Alun Rossiter and jumped at the chance to ride for Swindon again.

“I’ve always wanted to come back to Swindon. Maybe if it wasn’t this year, it would have been later in my career, and I am really happy to be back,” said Howarth.

“In 2013 when I did the end of the season here, I really enjoyed it. I probably would have come back last season but with all the new reserve rules it didn’t really work out.

“I had to get a job and there wasn’t a lot of time to wait around.

“I went to Coventry and I did enjoy my time there and don’t really have anything bad to say about it. I just didn’t really get on with the promoter there.

“I’ve always enjoyed working with Rosco and riding this track. When I was speaking to Rosco in the winter, it wasn’t an offer I wanted to turn down. I was very happy to get the phone call to sign for this year.

“I couldn’t be happier to be back at Swindon and working with Rosco again and all the guys. It should be a good year.”

Howarth will ride as Swindon’s number two this season, meaning he partners fellow new recruit, Poland’s Adrian Miedzinksi, in the opening heat.

That is something that Manchester rider Howarth is pleased with, although he admits he would be happy with any spot on the Robins’ roster.

“I’m not really fused about my number but I like going out in heat one,” added 21-year-old Howarth.

“I’m not really scared of anyone and no one is scared of me. I like a bit of a fight, that’s the Manchester in me.

“It’s a very strong team and all of us can put our average up. That’s what you want, you want your team to progress.

“Last year I had a few niggling injuries, which cost me three or four weeks of the season.

“My goals are to stay fit and healthy and have a consistently good season. If I get the ball rolling at the start of the season, hopefully I can keep it going and go from there.”
