Cammell Laird 0 Darlington 2
A goal from Nathan Fisher helped give Darlington a welcome win at Cammell Laird today.
After three league matches without a victory, Quakers won 2-0 on Merseyside with Terry Galbraith sealing victory with an injury-time penalty.
Galbraith also had a hand in the first goal. After a goalless first half, which ended in torrential rain, a glancing header by Fisher put Darlington ahead on 53 minutes, the striker reacting to Galbraith’s terrific cross.
And when the otherwise out-of-sorts Stephen Thompson was tripped in the penalty area, Galbraith drilled home.
Also notable today was the composed performance of Curtis Edwards. A week after the young midfielder was picked out for verbal abuse by a Darlington fan following the 0-0 draw at Lancaster, Edwards responded in fine style; excellent on the ball and he never shied away from possession.
