Darlington sign two more
8:00am Friday 22nd June 2012 in Blue Square Premier
By Craig Stoddart, Deputy Sports Editor
Darlington last night completed two more signings, which included a move for a goalkeeper who played for them at Feethams.
Chris Porter has rejoined the club that he first signed for on loan from Sunderland in 2000 and then again in 2002 when he came into the side following an injury to Andy Collett.
The 32-year-old went on to play for various northern clubs, such as York, Bishop Auckland, and Billingham Synthonia, while he now works as a fireman and was last season at Gateshead where he was goalkeeping coach.
Manager Martin Gray has also brought in Leon Scott, a former Whitby Town and Shildon midfielder.
Gray said: "Chris played a lot of first-team games for York so I'm pleased to get him in because he's an experienced goalkeeper.
"Leon is an athletic, left-footed central midfielder. He came through the youth set up Middlesbrough and did very well at Whitby.
"We may need on or two more in. We've got a couple of targets, but we're not looking to carry a massive squad."
Gray's previous signings have been: Stephen Harrison, Arjun Purewal, Dan Smith, Adam Nicholls, Marc Ellison, Darren Richardson, Chris Emms, Amar Purewal, Danny Mellanby, David Dowson, Jamie Clarke and Shaun Reay.
Sean Gregan, 38, has joined as a coach, though he will also play if able to prove his fitness in pre-season.
Phil Gray and John McReady remain with the club. Talks regarding the transfer of McReady between Darlington and a Football League club broke down last week, but the player and Quakers remain of hopeful of striking a deal.

Just looked at the Northern League player registration pages and there is nothing for Darlo?

Will John McReady and Phil Gray be prepared to play if transfer doesnt work out? I know its a level way below McReady's ability but at least it would keep him match fit! DTID
