Quakers reveal new kits

NEW SIGNINGS: Darren Richardson, Gary Brown and Adam Nicholls NEW SIGNINGS: Darren Richardson, Gary Brown and Adam Nicholls

THE Northern Echo is sponsoring Darlington’s strip this season and the home kit is revealed for the first time today.

New signings Darren Richardson, Gary Brown and Adam Nicholls modelled the Macron-manufactured kit which sees Quakers return to their traditional black and white hoops.

The away kit is red and also carries the name of The Northern Echo who revealed the sponsorship in June.

A support package has been agreed that includes a recommitment of a £10,000 investment pledged earlier this year during the fight to save the club.

Quakers’ Northern League campaign begins with a sellout match on Saturday against Bishop Auckland at Heritage Park.

All 2,000 tickets have been snapped up so there will be no cash sales on the day.

Meanwhile, two of Darlington’s first games of the season have been rearranged.

They will be at Consett on August 25 instead of Celtic Nation due to the latter’s involvement in the FA Cup.

Also, their home game with Dunston has been brought forward a day to Friday, August 31 (7:30pm kick off).

Not so sure about all the red bits and pieces but overall it looks good; well done 1883 and the NE>

Where are they modeling this kit, the old Feethams ground? Or is this the board of 1883 and the Northern Echo saying the team are left out in the wilderness?

I know you don't have a ground to call your own, but surely you could of chosen something better as the back drop for the reveal!? I do believe DBC would of allowed you to use some places for free if you cannot afford to pay.

Are those long shorts or short longs ?, they look like extras from "Chariots of Fire". I trust these lads can play a bit, they look young and frail to me. The Northern League has some cloggers and diabolical pitches. I hope Mr Gray doesn't think football will win the day, it'll be a physical test of strength in a lot of games. Good to see the traditional shirts back though, I just hope we can do them justice.

Spot on. Black and White hooped stockings would have been excellent as well. Pity the lower half of the kit doesn't do a brilliant shirt justice.

Oh hello lads....this option allows us to use the same shorts with the red tops if needed??? Potential money saving....and a bit less morbid than mostly black (referee colours????)
I think they look smart as......even if smudger doesn't like the background...mind you he is a KOK

So johnny seven, no1quaker & Normski1960 am I not allowed my opinion/ comments on these threads?

The choice of background is, well lets say cheap and what on earth does the middle of a wood have to do with unveiling a new strip? Unless your trying to hide it, then it needs to be camouflage!

Once again it proves that even the PR/Marketing is organised by amateurs just like everything about Darlington 1883.

The replica strips are a big money earner for the club and needs to be marketed better than this hotch potch.

What a moron you are bogman, how can a comment about the pathetic location chosen to unveil a new kit for a club struggling to fetch funds in be stupid & infantile?

The club are showing that nobody from the board or sponsors have a real clue about fetching money into the club. The marketing for that picture is horrendous and anyone looking at it from outside the bubble that is Darlington will all be asking the same question - why are they stood in a wood?

Amateur club ran by amateurs with noting to call their own - oh yeah sorry, you have a collapsible temporary stand.

And for your record I don't live in or near Hartlepool.

MSG As a neutral in footballing terms I cannot say i have one team in particular as I have watched football in most grounds throughout the UK and also on the continent when I have visited/ lived there. The game is what I enjoy not just the teams kicking the ball about.

Can I just say that you must of had a bang on the head at some point, the reason 1883 are at this point is because the people of Darlington don't want a football team!! How many more times do they have to prove that point?

..never said you weren't entitled to your opinion, free speech allows us to spot the idiots :)

The background is still irrelevant, but you are on your soapbox, so that's fine :)
..not sure that anyone gives a fat rats backside about your "flaming" & "trolling"? But as I said at the beginning, you are as entitled to your opinions as we are to treat them like diatribes as we see fit...see ya X
