Darlington’s four outstanding fixtures have finally rearranged and league Evo-Stik Northern League officials have handed them a double-header with fellow promotion hopefuls Northwich Victoria.

They clubs were already due to meet at Heritage Park on Saturday, March 14, and the return trip will now take place just three days later on Tuesday, March 17.

The circumstances are unusual, but the league’s fixtures secretary has had a number of matches to rearrange due to a series of postponements this season due to the weather. Quakers were among the worst hit, losing six matches, a situation which means they now have five games in hand on leaders Salford City.

Darlington will also play on a Monday evening at the end of March, playing away to New Mills on the 30th. The game will be played two days after travelling to Warrington Town.

The two other rearranged fixtures are at home to Lancaster City on March 11 and home to Prescot Cables on March 21.

That makes it seven matches in March and six in February, starting with this weekend’s match at Heritage Park against Ossett Town, after which Martin Gray’s men will have four successive away matches.

Ossett’s visit to the North-East is one of eight remaining home games for Gray’s promotion chasers, with ten on the road.
