Darlington will maintain the same approach to local cup competitions that they employed last season by ringing the changes for the Durham Challenge Cup.
They are away to Harton & Westoe and manager Martin Gray wants to rest those that have started games recently.
He adopted the same approach 12 months ago when Quakers lost at Hebburn and it was also a weakened line-up that Darlington used in the Northern League Cup tie against Spennymoor Town.
Gray will, however, treat the FA Trophy more seriously when Darlington travel to Ossett Town next month.
For tonight's game at the Welfare Ground in South Shields, Craig Turns, Dan Hall, Paul Robinson and David Dowson will start, but Steven Johnson remains sidelined with a knee injury.
Recent signings Bruno Pilatos and Curtis Edwards, who was an unused sub on Saturday when Darlington beat Mossley 4-0, will make their debuts while youth team players James Coatsworth, Matty Lovegreen, Aiden O'Connor and Adam Cocks all come contention.
Harton & Westoe are 16th in the Wearside League - three divisions below Quakers - having won only two of their first ten league games.
Kick off this evening is 7.30pm and admission is £5 adults and £3 concessions.
Quakers face Harrogate RA at Heritage Park on Saturday.
